About Our Clinic

Meet Dr. McCarroll: A Passion for Helping

Dr. McCarroll began his journey as a family doctor in Romeo, St. Clair Shores, and at Mt Clemens General Hospital. During his time there, he saw a big need for Opioid Treatment in southeastern Michigan. Because this issue is close to his heart, as he has seen his own loved ones struggle with addiction, he wanted to help people battling the tough disease of addiction. To make a difference, Dr. McCarroll started Biomed Behavioral Healthcare in 1999. He created a place where people get help with the respect, care, and compassion they deserve. Dr. McCarroll is an expert in addiction medicine, certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He also played a big role in Biomed as its full-time medical director and worked with the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Disease to improve addiction medicine across the country.

Continuing the Legacy: A New Chapter

Dr. McCarroll retired in December 2022. Now, his son Sean McCarroll is leading the way, following his father’s mission and vision. Alongside Medical Director Dr. Angela Schultz MD and our team of over 70 care professionals, we’re committed to providing the best care for you and the 1100 patients we see each month. We’re here to support you in your recovery journey.

Biomed Behavioral Healthcare: More Than Just Treatment

Biomed isn’t just about giving medicine. It’s about helping the whole person. Since we opened, we’ve grown to have locations in Roseville and Flint, Michigan. We are a MAT facility, we use different medications to treat addiction and offer counseling for Opioid dependence. In therapy, our team uses approaches like the Strength Based Model, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We focus on group therapy, one-on-one talks, and intensive outpatient sessions. Our goal is to see each patient as a whole person, not just someone with an addiction. We create personalized treatment plans that fit each person’s unique strengths, needs, and goals. Our staff is always ready to help and support our patients in reaching their recovery goals.
